9 - Problem-Solution essay

Air Polution

Brainstorming

Problem: air polution
6 questions:
- Who does this problem concern? The entire world population because pollution has direct effects on our quality of life.
- What is this problem making? Air pollution in contaminating the planet and hurting other species both animal and vegetation.
- When did the problem start? With the beginning of the Industrial Revolution the quantities of fumes thrown at the Atmosphere increased significantly.
- Where did the problem begin? Mainly in industrialized countries in America and Europe.
- How? With the development of industry more resources were used and a huge amount of polution was generated
- Why? Because of the natural advancements in industry

Solutions:
Clustering:

Solutions: - Using public transport > Increase public transport investment > promote its use and the                        lesser use of private transport

                  - Stop using fossil fuels > rely more on renewable resources > decrease the rate at which                        old factories operate

                   - Make people reflect on their actions > create activities for people to realize their bad                           habits and be more sensible

Thesis statement: Air pollution is a great problem that affects all living species on the Earth and the planet itself; it was born from humanity's high development without taking in account what harm could be done to our home planet and what actions we should take to avoid or decrease the high levels pollution has reached since the 1900's. For this sole purpose, a plan of action must be made to prevent our industries for polluting the atmosphere even more, a plan of action which contains a reinforcement of public transport, the cease of old, fossil fueled factories and campaigns made to make people take action in their daily lives.

Outline:

I - Thesis Statement

II - Increase Public Transport
A - If more people travelled together cars wouldn't polute so much
1 - Countries with more public transport have lesser levels of polution

III - Cease of fossil fuel factories
A - Factories that rely on fossil fuels are a huge waste of money and are very harmful
B - They can cause accidents
1 - Nuclear Central disasters
C - Renewable energies don't polute and are more reliable

IV - Make people take action
A - If people took their part in this problem they would make a significant change
1 - Many countries which used thiese camapigns polute less

V - Conclusion: Polution has become a great problem in our daily lives, and many people -especially those who dwell in cities- suffer their effects every day. But it's still not to late to take action and invest in plans with which we can reduce this problem, and by reducing the problem we are increasing our quality of life and the planet's.

Air polution is a great problem that affects all living species on the Earth and the planet itself; it was born from humanity's high development without taking in account what harm could be done to our home planet and what actions we should take to avoid or decrease the high levels pollution has reached since the 1900's. For this sole purpose, a plan of action must be made to prevent our industries for poluting the atmosphere even more, a plan of action which contains a reinforcement of public transport, the cease of old, fossil fueled factories and campaigns made to make people take action in their daily lives.

The first policy to implement when tackling the problem of air polution is one of the simplest: increase the funds of public transport. If the stakes were raised regarding public transport and its routes were made more efficient a higher amount of people would use this means of transport and the polution thrown by many individual cars would drop, as proven in many other countries where these policies were adopted and got to lower their polution rate.

Another big part of the plan is the closing of old factories which operate using fossil fuels that harm the enviroment and take a lot of time to refill, therefore, meaning a waste of time and effort in volatile resources that, once used, never come back until years and years later. In addition, these factories can also cause accidents due to the dangerous nature of the Material they used, as seen in the tragic events of Chernobyl and Fukushima. On the other side of the spectrum, renewable energies are far safer, and they could mean a future in which we wouldn't have to rely on harmful and contaminating fuels to generate our energy.

The last change is the less subtle, and probably the most important: same as a vast amount of grains of sand make a coast, the actions of all of the population together in order not to polute anymore can be the greatest card up our sleeve. Countries like Switzerland and the Netherlands have already seen the changes that putting a lot of people in action can do, and if we promote plans and investment in actions destined to open the population's eyes the rate at which polution could be stopped would do nothing but increase.

In conclusion, even if polution has make its way into our lives it's still not to late to learn and put in practice new habits with which we can stop hurting the planet and preserve it for future generations to come, but only if we follow the previously stated plan of action and eliminate every old bastion that remains of the Industrial and fossil era and compromise ourselves to stop poluting and, thus, have a more ecofriendly lifestyle.
