9 - Smoking in public places

For the last few years smoking has been debate fuel that reached the government and laws were made to prohibit this practice. Since then, many consumers have argued whether or not forbidding a person from doing something others don't like was right, but consumers have also taken their part and have clashed with the former.

From any perspective, it is clear that smoking in a public place where other people like children and pregnant women can see themselves affected is a very dangerous practice, and more so if we take in account that smoking is in every aspect an addiction rather than a need, so there's no point in having people who shouldn't inhale this chemicals involved when a nearby person starts smoking.

People who smoke, however, claim that they're being deprived of being in a public place with other people just because they smoke, and they don't find a place in their house or in other locations to do so, so having them go out to smoke is unfair. But, even if that's reasonable, they are still putting in danger many people who don't deserve to be affected by other people's addictions, same with drinking or other practices, all responsibility comes to the people who have these habits.

In conclusion, smoking in public places is a practice that should remain prohibited and those who claim for it to be lifted must first control their actions and take on account the consecuences other people may face just because of them.
