A Hobby

A hobby I developed when I was younger was watching films, ever since I was 6 or 7 I discovered the different worlds that any film could create and even expand through external media and I loved sitting on the sofa a watching different films for hours. My fondest memories as a kid come from The Magic Roundabout and The Iron Giant, the latter of which I still have in VHS, and I still can tell how I felt the day I got that old tape within my hands from a, now gone, videoclub.

As years went on my taste changed, I remember how many times I used to watch the previously minted movies but later on they became that, just memories. Luckily i had discovered inside my basement an old collection of films: from contests, given with the newspapers, downloaded, of every genre; I still remember when I got scared as a kid because within the darkness of the basement I saw the cover of The Ring, but I also found others like Der Untergang or the entire Star Wars saga.

Interestingly enough I don't remember watching any Disney film, neither The Lion King nor The Little Mermaid, and I'd like to see those films because they're part of the history of filming; this statement also represents my current position towards films, I like to see as many renounded films as I can to see their impact on culture, for that reason early on this year I watched Blade Runner and Jacob's Ladder both of which becoming part of my collection of favourite films.

In a nutshell films have become an important part in my life and I still look forward to new releases, something which ended long ago in other hobbies I used to have. If you ever have any spare time and are boring it's never a bad idea to search for any film that can entertain you on those boring Sunday afternoons, after all that's how I discovered some of the best works I've seen.
