3 - Shopping

When I was a kid I always went shopping with my parents and, at the time, I didn't realize the price of things; I just saw how many people just took everything they wanted and gave oddly-colored paper but it was fine, I hadn't thougth there was anything more to it at the time, and time proved me to be very mistaken.

Years passed and I continued to go shopping with them, but less frequently and usually on my own, and then I began seeing the true value of products: I saw how just with a few things, quantities of 10, 20, even 30 euros could be reached by less than 10 products, I had gained a better understanding of the value of money but I still didn't care due to my age. It would be later, during my first job, that I would truly understand what it meant to go shopping everyday.

After working as a cashier I saw how highes prices could get in a few products and the money people spent everyday to buy what they wanted. More on that, I truly understood what it meant after receiving my first salary and watching how every little bit of money was spent in buying the necessary products, and in that moment, I knew my understanding of the most mundane of things had changed.

In conclusion, what is commonly seen as a regular activity can be a difficult task if you're always taking care of saving the most out of your salary, and going shopping gains there a more subtle value than just getting what you want and leaving.
