Opinion paragraph replying to a TED Talk

A topic commonly brought up by some experts and people in general is that of how schools kill creativity, how it drives children to study subjects more akin to science and industry while it suppresses others that revolve around creativity, like arts or physical education. However, I found that in many cases many schools are pointed out as gulty of this without truly being responsible for it.

Whether the government chooses to go towards the path of economic growth is not the fault of the schools, these are centres meant to teach children in different subjects and make them choose a branch within the academic tree; if scientific and technological subjects are those with most posibilities in the labour market, then it's obvious that politics are going to enhance them. And, apart from that, there are also subjects that deal with the students' creativity: music is a compulsory subject during the early school years without taking in account any academic branch, same for arts in other years; in PE children are shown a huge variety of sports to play during the year and teachers often encourage children to find their prefered activity.

Besides, as I stated before, schools are not the adequate place for children to find activities that they can enjoy apart from their own subjects. For this, they can search at home what they like, sign up for any sport, do many after-school activities and, in general, have a hobby; schools are meant to teach students in many subjects, not to make them artists or to teach them manners like some still believe.

In conclusion, although creativity is not often explored that much in schools, they're not the ones to blame, these centres only do as they're told by higher delegations and making them guilty for this is completely incomprehensible.
