6 - Discrimination

In every layer of our current society can we find discrimination, and this practice finds its roots many years in the past.

Even now, in most developed countries like the USA, the UK, France, etc. traces of racism and sexism are still found, due to the history of these countries: in the Western World women were seen as childish and infierior, uncapable of handling the same tasks men had to to every day and relegated to cleaning the house for when their husband came back; and black people were treated as slaves and only useful to accomplish what their lord set them to do, without any kind of liberty. These events have forever scarred the skin of the Western World culture, and their effects go beyond what meets the eye: women less seen in high profile jobs, racism present in our institutions and many people unfairly found guilty of crimes they most likely haven't commited; it is a virus that still finds its way to our minds even to this day.

However, not all hope is lost, fortunatelly many campaigns are putting every effort they have in fighting for women and minorities' rights, the rates of women in better jobs and black people integrated in our culture is also rising and racism and sexism are less frequent as years go by. There might be still a lot to do but a great part of what had to be fixed is already accomplished.

In conclusion, our society is slowly but surely finishing this kind of treatment towards those who used to be seen as less and hopefully, we are walking the path of tolerance thanks to the chances given to those who've had a life not as easy as ours.
